The Steam Deck is a portable gaming PC… which can be used as a normal PC, not just for gaming. But it is designed for gaming, so it is a gaming PC. One idea from senior game designer Jaakko Iisalo involved a simulated screenshot of limbless angry-looking birds. The staff liked the birds and elected to make a game around game, with inspiration from Crush the Castle (the gameplay) and the “swine flu” pandemic (the enemy pigs). It wasn’t until 2010 that the game began to be noticed: it reached No. 1 spot in the iOS App Store in the UK and US. For EVO 2022 (the first tournament since 2019, for obvious reasons), Smash Bros won’t come back, with no explanation from Nintendo.
